Rita served on the MW Steering Committee of Matiya World and as a Board of Director for Term 2011-2012 and was nominated by MW Board to serve as President term 2012-2015.
She has experience with planning of MW Convention 2007, 2009, 2011, and 2013. She was an MC at convention 2007, lead for coordinating/AV for all 4 conventions, and a Local Host committee lead for convention 2013. She has also played a major role in MW website/communications setups.
Rita immigrated to the United States in 1978 at the age of 12 from India; she is a daughter of Jashwantiben & Kantilal Naranjibhai Patel of Singod, India. Rita studied Computer Science and Business Management at Northern Kentucky University but then after having her eldest daughter in 1989 decided to go back to school for Graphics/Fashion Designing.
Rita did consulting work from home as a graphics/web designer. After taking consulting work to the next level by accepting a position as Director of Graphics Design, she currently holds the Director of Operations/Marketing position at iFiber Optix Inc.
Rita’s 1st priority & pride has always been her family and raising her four daughters: Shaina (24), Jasmine (21), Surya (17), & Ashana (14). Rita believes everyone should live life to its fullest, along with a good balance of family & work.
Rita takes joy in community service. She has served/worked with organizations such as Chinmaya Mission, HMPS, SAHARA, and International Harmony at local and Board levels. She is the current president of HMPS Inc. Working with these organizations has given Rita vast experience in Planning, Coordination of events, and Project Management. She believes in the vision and mission of Matiya World and would like to contribute to taking it to the next level.

Anil Patel was born and raised in Livingston, Zambia. In 1971, he moved to London and began work as an auditor in an accounting firm. During his tenure, Anil set up internal controls and accounting systems. In 1985, he moved to Ringgold, GA, where he began his career in the hospitality industry. His expertise was in construction, renovations, and daily management of properties. While in Georgia, Anil was a proud member of the Board of Directors of Dalton’s Hospitality Association.
He is also a founding member of the Matiya Samaj of Southeast USA. Anil has always found ways to give back to the community through volunteer efforts, including working with Habitat for Humanity. He exhibited his passion for soccer and education by coaching several youth soccer teams and eventually serving as the director of the Boynton Recreational Association.
Anil currently resides in Mesa, AZ, and works for Southwest Hospitality Management as the Controller. Openness and adaptation are things that Anil finds most important in building and maintaining our samaj.

Nila Dahya

Professionally: Nila has been working for DKN Hotels for the last 28 years.
During this time, she has held several positions, from managing properties as a General Manager,
setting up the Accounting System, to being an Executive Personal Assistant. Currently, she is part
of the Development Department, focusing on interior design for renovations and new builds.
Family:
She is married to Kiran Dahya, and together they have four children aged 12, 14, 22, and 25.
Hobbies:
Nila enjoys good music, good company, traveling, and reading.

to get involved and be able to give back.”

Ajita Chopra

Rita Patel

Ajita Chopra currently resides in Irvine, CA, where she runs her own event planning business. Ajita was born and raised in Harare, Zimbabwe, Africa. Her family originally comes from Orgam, Gujarat, and migrated to Africa in the early 1920s.
Ajita was motivated to join the Matiya World Board after a fulfilling 3-month experience she had on the Convention Planning Committee of the Matiya World Convention 2012. Her goal is to share her expertise as a Co-Lead on the Convention Planning Committee for the MW Convention 2015 and actively participate in other committees, such as the Children’s Committee, Adults Committee, and the Bylaws, Governance, Financial & Audit Committee.
Ajita was nominated to serve as Joint-Secretary on the Executive Board of Matiya World for a 2-year term from 2012 to 2015.
She is a working mom who makes family her first priority and enjoys staying up-to-date with fashion & design trends, the culinary world, and travel. Ajita also volunteers her time for philanthropic efforts both locally and abroad.

Shalini Patel

Shalini was born in Africa, raised in England, and married Nilesh D. Patel in the USA.
Together, they have three wonderful children.
She enjoys indoor and outdoor activities such as running, hiking, skiing, and badminton.
Shalini loved participating with her children in the LA Convention 2007. Her experience
with the 2013 Convention brought her great joy, inspiring her to join the Matiya World Board (MWB)
this term. She hopes to make a difference, whether big or small, and currently serves as the MW Treasurer
and a lead for the Nomenclature Committee.
